Product Description

Bashir adopts terms and language of science as the titles of her poems: Transitive relations, Law of total probability, Planck’s constant. Rigid terminology contrasts against the trembling language that lays the groundwork of “blackbody theory,” defined as “idealized perfect absorption.” Exploitation in the name of scientific “progress” and “research” comes to mind in a poem riddled with redactions or bullet holes. Magnetic fields, thermodynamics, and the curvature of space provide the potent ground for the recategorization of, as Bashir displays, the undefinable and hybrid aspects of existence.
