Product Description

The book is concerned with all that is underground: tunnels, caves, subways and sewers, smuggling and secret societies hidden from the public world, forming their own “subterranean reality”. Polish-born, Belgium-based artist Marcin Dudek’s book is introduced through the piece “Tunnel Recording”, an intervention on his living space; five days before moving out of his apartment, Dudek began to connect, with tape, objects in his room based on how they were used. What began as a skeleton of association quickly progressed into a web, and later, a nervous system: “connecting all existing furniture to the expanding tunnel”. As Dudek investigates his influences deeper and deeper, his work does not constrict, but expands across three-dimensional, material space.
